We teach girls to shrink themselves
To make themselves smaller
We say to girls
“You can have ambition
But not too much
You should aim to be successful
But not too successful
Otherwise you will threaten the man”
Because I am female
I am expected to aspire to marriage
I am expected to make my life choices
Always keeping in mind that
Marriage is the most important
Now marriage can be a source of
Joy and love and mutual support
But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage
And we don’t teach boys the same?
We raise girls to each other as competitors
Not for jobs or for accomplishments
Which I think can be a good thing
But for the attention of men
We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings
In the way that boys are

Political, and economic equality of the sexes

From Beyonce’s Flawless. So, so true.
My soul honours your soul.
I honour the place in you where the entire universe resides.
I honour the light, love, truth, beauty and peace within you,
because it is also within me.
In sharing these things we are united,
we are the same,
we are one.
What the end of every yoga class feels like.
To me, creating a life that feels good has become very important in the recent months.
I do yoga, eat well, meet the ones I love – spend meaningful time with them, spend my money mindfully, travel, read… ALL to get the feeling of immense satisfaction.
There are certain things you do for your soul – and when you do them, your inner glow shines through and people begin to notice it. And it’s not because you started using this new beauty product, but all because you genuinely feel good.
When I was in my mother’s womb, she played the song Sukiyaki to me over and over again so that when I was born it would soothe me because it was a familiar tune. She said it worked. I still really like the song, it’s linked to the image, it’s one of those things that makes me feel good for no real reason.
Today someone I hold dear texted me to say that a reading I gave them at the beginning of the year has proven to be really accurate. It’s absolutely magnificent to hear things like that. I don’t know why I chose Tarot, but it’s proven to be a gift, time and time again.
But I’ve neglected my cards for awhile, not inspired to do readings, not knowing why, but everytime I go back to my deck, it doesn’t fail me and I feel constantly blessed for that.
Maybe the next thing I need to do is start reading again, regularly. Who wants a reading?
When you pass, there is only one thing that you can take with you, and that is true wealth. Buddha calls it mediation, awareness, watchfulness, consciousness. If you become more and more conscious, you can take that consciousness with you. – OSHO
My favourite one in this is actually No.9. Nobody ever mentions that one, but its so important. At the end of the day if you can’t get your work done because you’re too busy starting things, then nobody’s going to want you.
This also reminds me that I need to start doing some stuff on the side. Work is starting to slow down with everyone going on summer holidays. My mind is going still and I can’t stand that. Side project… hmmmm.
last year i abstained
